Data protection is a human right that safeguards the use, storage, deletion, sharing and all forms of processing of personal data. Privacy is usually defined as the right of any citizen to be let alone or freedom from interference or intrusion. This helps to limit who has access to our bodies, places and things, as well as our communications and our information. The use of social media with its inherent benefits also creates both privacy and data protection risks.
